How Does It Work?

Rupento.com is a web platform that helps you find loans. Loans of up to Rs. 120,000 are offered for a period of 120 days (four months) to Sri Lankan citizens aged 18 or older. The loan amount depends on the terms set by your lender. We cannot guarantee that each lender will offer you a loan for the maximum amount with the longest repayment period.

The main requirements for borrowers are:

  • Sri Lankan citizenship
  • Aged 18 to 65
  • A valid National Identity Card (NIC)
  • Any form of income (official or unofficial)

Generally, it takes up to 30 minutes to apply and get a decision. All you need to do is specify how much you would like to borrow and for how long, fill out a basic form (name, NIC number, etc.) and send it through our platform. We will then show you a list of lenders ready to consider your application. Next, you choose a loan and read through the terms and conditions. If you decide to accept the terms, the lender will send the funds to your bank account or card. You can stop the application at any time — it does not oblige you to anything.

Intermediary Responsibilities Policy

Rupento.com is not a lender, nor does it take any decisions regarding loans. Rupento.com finds lenders for customers based on their application information. It earns a commission, paid by the lender, for providing advertising services. We cannot guarantee that a lender will accept your application or that they will offer you loan terms that will suit your needs. Not all lenders can provide loans of up to Rs. 120 000. The time it takes to process and transfer a loan depends on the lender. This website does not directly endorse any particular product or service. Any information on this website is approximate in nature. Some lenders may perform a credit check with a credit reporting agency as a loan condition.

Repayment Periods and Interest Rates

The loans offered on Rupento.com have a minimum repayment period of 120 days (four months) and a maximum of 180 days (six months). APR ranges from 0% to 36%. Interest rates vary from lender to lender.

Representative Example (the total loan cost, including all applicable fees)

A loan of Rs. 5,000 repayable over 4 months with an APR of 3.6% would require a total repayment of Rs. 5,060.

Collection Process

Please contact the lender directly if you are having trouble repaying. They will be able to discuss payment options with you. The lender reserves the right to give your information to a third-party collection agency, should the situation remain unresolved.

Consequences of Non-payment

If you cannot repay on time, your lender may start the collection process as per the loan agreement. Your lender will often contact you to arrange an alternative repayment schedule. This could result in additional fees or interest. Lenders also have an option to file a lawsuit against you. Consider contacting your lender before missing a payment to find out what collection policy they have and discuss your repayment options.

Late Payments

If you are unable to repay within the loan period, you need to contact your lender right away. Lenders may charge a fee for late payments, which averages about 0.03% of the amount owed for personal loans and credit cards. Please remember that you will likely incur additional fees if you pay late or not at all, which could add up. For more information about late payment fees, please contact your lender directly and be sure you have read the terms in your loan agreement.

Extension Policy

If you would like to extend your loan, you should contact your lender before missing a payment. Most lenders charge the same interest rate and commissions for another month on the total amount due. The loan may be renewed or extended automatically in the event of late or nonpayment. Additional interest and/or fees may be charged to your account. Please, think carefully before extending your loan, as doing so may substantially increase the amount you pay.
